"My Notifications" not working in CU3
Hello, I am told the following is a known issue? if so when will MS prepose to fixe it? we paid almost £100,000 for this software!! please assist
Hello, interesting one this..........
I have an issue with "My Subscriptions" from the Operators Console and wonder if I am doing some thing wrong or it is a bug.
I am using SCOM 2007 R2 CU3
I have setup my Notifications, Channels, Subscriptions and Subscribers an all works OK.
For example I have a user AD-Domain\Ernie with an Address of
Ernie@EmailAddress.com I have a Subscription setup with Ernie as a Subscriber and and all works OK i.e. Ernie receives Notifications correctly
The problem comes when Ernie wanted to change "My Notifications" from My Workspace in the Operations Console (version 6.1.7221.49)
Ernie has the "Operator" role in SCOM
When Ernie starts the Operations Console and clicks on Tools > My Subscriptions the following message is received
"You must configure a notification subscriber before adding subscriptions. Would you like to configure a notification subscriber now"
If you select Yes to setup now (Ernie is already a subscriber with a subscription) the wizard starts with AD-Domain\Ernie (i.e. the correct address I am logged in with and the one already setup as a subscriber) this is correct but grayed out so cannot be changed.
Click next > "Schedule" leave at default always send notifications > Address , now this is where it gets interesting as the Address is Blank (Ernie already has an addresses setup for his subscriber. If click Add then fill in the information (no
mater what I put) and click Next I get the error
"Failed to Save Notification Subscriber The object cannot be inserted because it already exists in the system"
Which of course is correct the subscriber AD-Domain\Ernie does indeed already have an address, so I would expect that.
problem is why does it not realize Ernie already has a fully formed Subscriber and Subscription and therefore allow me to change the Notifications when I click on My Notifications
Please help!! am I being dumb or is this a bug?
Thanks in advance
Ernie

Hi Ernie,
Could you clarify a few things to help us understand the issue? Who set up notifications for "AD-Domain\Ernie" initially, when it was successful? You mention in your email that you set it up with Ernie as a subscriber and it works okay,
but who is the user "I" in this case? If the user that set up the subscription is different from Ernie, what is their role in OM?
Towards the end of your email, you mention Ernie cannot change his Notifications. Is "AD-Domain\Ernie" logged into the machine when he loads the operations console? Or is another user logged in trying to edit these notifications for "AD-Domain\Ernie"?

This is by design only an OM Administrator can change subscription created by an OM Administrator. If Ernie want to change the subscription the OM Admin should delete it and let Ernie create it the way he wants.
Hope this helps
